The Hap. Spilonotus Sulphurhead is a high-end specialty fish now available at Fish R Us. Native to the intermediate zones of Lake Malawi, this species is prized for the adult male’s dramatic color contrast. While juveniles and females are a subtle, shimmering silver, mature males develop a rich navy-blue complexion highlighted by a glowing yellow stripe across the forehead and dorsal ridge.

As an Otopharynx species, the Sulphurhead is generally more peaceful than the aggressive Mbuna, making it an ideal companion for other Haps and Peacock cichlids. They are open-water swimmers that appreciate a spacious tank (75 gallons or larger) with high water quality and plenty of room to patrol.
