Discover the Legendary Spotted Congo Puffer
Bring home one of the absolute jewels of the freshwater hobby with the Spotted Congo Puffer, proudly offered by Fish R Us. Hailing from the Congo River basin, Tetraodon schoutedeni is widely celebrated as the most community-friendly pufferfish in existence, staying relatively compact and exhibiting a much calmer demeanor than its aggressive cousins.
Covered in a striking pattern of dark leopard spots over a bright golden-green body, these puffers look like miniature works of art. They are incredibly intelligent, highly interactive, and will quickly learn to recognize you, begging at the glass whenever you walk into the room. Because they are true freshwater fish, they require no salt adjustments, making them an absolute joy to keep.
Approximate size: 3.5″ (Unsexed)
Key Features & Behavior:
Community Friendly: Unlike most freshwater puffers, they can often be successfully kept alongside fast-moving, peaceful community fish and even in small groups of their own kind.

True Freshwater Species: Spends its entire lifecycle in freshwater, eliminating the need for complex brackish water setups.
Care and Tank Requirements:
Diet: Carnivorous. Thrives on a varied diet of frozen bloodworms, krill, Mysis shrimp, and crucially, ramshorn or bladder snails to keep their continuously growing teeth naturally worn down.

Tank Setup: Prefers a heavily decorated tank with dense live plants, driftwood, and plenty of visual breaks to satisfy their love for exploration.
