Key Care & Features:

• Behavior: Calm, slow-moving, and incredibly intelligent. They form deep-water social hierarchies where dominant males develop massive, iconic nuchal humps on their heads. They are generally peaceful but will eat fish small enough to fit in their mouths.

• Diet: Carnivorous. They thrive on a high-protein diet of premium cichlid pellets, krill, mysis shrimp, and frozen silversides.

• Tank Requirements: Minimum 100–125 gallons for a colony. Require hard, alkaline water ($\text{pH } 7.8 – 9.0$), pristine filtration, and heavy stone structures that create deep, shaded caves.
